Sewing is a fantastic way to spend time and we love it all, but sometimes it is good to have a go at something new. Maxine and I recently undertook a cake decorating course. It has been a lot of fun and we have developed a whole lot of new skills. We decorated cup cakes using butter creams, and arranging them to look like posies of flowers. We made sugar paste flowers and decorations for cakes and cake lace. We also learnt how to make moulding chocolate to use for covering cakes or moulding anything to decorate the cake. For the final week everyone in the class made and decorated a Tree Trunk Cake. During class we had all made fairies and flowers ready for the final weeks decoration but Maxine and I did decorate ours little differently. Mine had hedgehogs, autumn leaves and berries and Maxine’s had the rabbit and all the fresh vegetables. It has been great fun and our friends and families have been most impressed and enjoyed all the treats (someone has to eat them). Caitlin has joined us for another short course on butter cream and fillings and more special treats. I think we will all be delivering our creations to other family members and friends as our own family want a break from cakes. They have been the tasters for all the cake samples for the past eight weeks.
The pink cake was completed by another student we have made the baby and lace for our own cakes that we will complete at a later date.
